The caption under the main photograph reads:-

Here’s a selection of the Handlebar Club’s 111 moustaches. Left to right: Cup winner Harry Hollingsworth, Alan Gear, John Roy — his 16½in. wonder tickled Barbara Kelly on TV — Ted Hooker, and Alan Beck. John Biddulph, at back, is out of his class.

The main report:-

There were embarrassing moments when reporter Arthur Redford and cameraman Frank Rust turned up at a London pub for the Handlebar Club’s annual Moustache Championship.
Being a couple of clean-shaven coves they felt naked among so many hairy moustaches.
But club secretary Pat Cocks took charge of them. He introduced ’em to a lovely lot of moustaches, behind some of which they could even see faces.
And they saw Harry Hollingsworth win the President’s Silver Cup for the finest all-round moustache.

False alarm

President Raymond Glendenning, the B.B.C. commentator, was there, but the scissors had been at his whiskers. Comedian Jimmy Edwards, the club’s only Vice, was unable to be present, and the scare got around that the Edwards ticklers had been trimmed down to a toothbrush.
Luckily it was a false alarm. Them mighty whiskers, chums, is still twitchin’!

And the caption under the small picture is:-

George Bromage is licensee of a pub where the club sometimes meets.
